Do I have to pay an awards fee or do fundraising? 

NO AWARDS FEES, NO MANDATORY FUNDRAISERS and $10 of EVERY membership collected comes right back to our state awards fund!!

*We do have optional sponsorship opportunties starting at just $150 or ask about ways you can donate products or time towards your sponsorship!
*100% of sponsor money collected will be used for added money at state finals!

When does the IBRA Season Start?

August 1st - July 31st of each year
Memberships renew and the points season starts over on this schedule! 

How do I Qualify for the Iowa IBRA State Finals in 2023?

Buy a MEMBERSHIP!

2023 members will be completing our points season. IBRA season points awarded each day. 

How are the IBRA age brackets determined?

Ages for each division follow the season (see above)
Youth 18 & under as of 8/1 each year
Adult 19-39 as of 8/1 each year
Masters 40 & over as of 8/1 each year

How do I earn points in the IBRA?

Ibra members earn points based on horse/rider combo 
A rider may earn points as a horse ride combo in mulitple D's
(*You might be 1D runs in little pens, but 2D in larger pens, you can earn points as a combo in both Ds)
Open Division is 4D (1/2, 1/2 whole)
Youth, Adult & Masters are 3D (1 second splits)
Points are awarded starting with the 1st IA IBRA member in the division. 
Points values are as follows
100, 91, 83, 86, 70, 65 
This system helps break up ties. (think of it like 10,9,8,7,6,5) 
*More points can be awarded in a D based on the size of the show. 

How many points can you earn in a D?

The max amount of points a member may earn prior to State Championship weekend is 1400 in a D
(*Example, Horse rider combo is the highest placing member in the 1D 14 times during the season, they would earn 1400 pts)
As you collect more points, your lower placings "fall off" and are replaced by higher placings. 

How do I qualify for IBRA Nationals?

Earn 100 pts as a horse/rider combo 
*This rule has been waived in the past. We will update as soon as Nationals makes a final decision on it. 

When do Stalls and RV go on sale for IBRA Nationals?
You can reserve online NOW ONLINE RESERVATION INFO
This allows members to split up the costs of traveling to Nationals. 
If your plans change, you do have the option of refunding out (see link for specific deadlines/details)
C Bar C Arena in Cloverdale can stall right at 700 and has a couple hundred RV sites. Both stalls and RV typically sell out. 
IOWA MEMBERS will be stalled together and they will also try to place our RV's near each other.

How do I sanction with the IBRA?

Fill out the sanction show request form and submit to brad@ibra.us

What is the cost to sanction with the IBRA? 

IBRA sanction fee is $2 per run. You may opt to sanction Open and you can also add Youth, Adult and Masters. 
$1 of the sanction fee is set aside for the Iowa IBRA State Finals awards fund ($ stays in IOWA for the benefit of Iowa members!!)
$1 goes to the National office for IBRA Nationals and admin costs. 

Example of how the run money works:

No Name Barrel Racing Production approves the Open barrel race with the IBRA
They set an Open entry fee of $27
- $2 of each open entry is set aside for the IBRA
$25 x (80% payback) = $20 into Jackpot
