DERBY horse defined as a horse 7 & under (no longer futurity age). • A horse can have more than 1 derby year depending on the age it started its competitive career. MATURITY HORSE (Big J Maturity): Defined as any horse that is derby age (described above) and /or a horse that has previously entered the Big J MATURITY during it's derby years. Once a horse has been entered in the Big J MATURITY during it’s derby years, it then becomes eligible to run for life (aka = MATURITY) |
